Suggested Trip Itineraries

These suggested trips are only ideas and can be adapted to suit your needs/wishes.  The Quatsino Museum is always enjoyed  by visitors and is open daily from 1:00pm - 2:00pm.  If you would like to visit the museum, we would time our trip accordingly.

Water will be provided for guests on all trips.  We will not provide lunch for our guests so please pack yourself a lunch if you choose to be with us for an extended period of time.  We will carry snacks on board in case of unexpected hunger attacks!

Trip #1 - The Sound (2 hours) - $150/hr

For this trip, we would pick you up in Coal Harbour and head west through Quatsino Narrows.  We would make a stop in Quatsino at the museum and visit the oldest building on the North Island, St. Olaf's Church built in 1897.  The church was the first schoolhouse in the area and remained a school until the 1940's.  From Quatsino dock, we would head around to the other side of Drake Island to see the otters who live there through the summer.

Trip #2 - The Sound and Pulling Traps (3 hours) - $150/hr

A Pacific White-Spotted Prawn
This trip would be similar to trip #1, but if you would like to try your luck at crabbing or prawning, this trip would be for you.  Pulling traps is a time-consuming task, but one never knows what will be waiting inside!  This is the educational part of the tour!  With a little luck, you will be able to have some seafood for dinner.  If this is the trip for you, please ensure you have a valid fishing license prior to boarding.

Trip #3 - The West Coast Adventure (4+ hours) - $200/hr

Prawn traps emerging from the deep!
This trip could include any or all of trips #1 or 2 with an added adventure of traveling to the end of the sound to where the mighty West Coast begins.  Whales are more likely to be seen on this trip, although never guaranteed.  A side trip up to Winter Harbour would provide some land time and an opportunity to visit the gift shop, purchase an ice cream bar and/or use the washroom (although we do have a porta pottie on board).  Chances would be good that we would see fishermen cleaning their catch at the dock here as well.  Winter Harbour is about 1.5 hours from Coal Harbour.

Our boat is fully equipped for fishing.  If you would like to try your luck, we would be happy to set you up.  That being said, we are not fish guides and do not guarantee a fish.  If you would like a guided fishing trip, we could recommend an expert fish guide in the area.
